Teradyne's Magnum E2: Four Memory Interfaces, Three Investor Checks

Why it matters: AI memory is getting faster, and testing it at production scale is a separate engineering challenge. Teradyne's September 29, 2026 Magnum E2 announcement describes an answer for advanced DRAM and flash interfaces. For TER investors, its supported protocols are only the first step: customer qualification, repeat production use and reported economics still need evidence.

Four interfaces in the launch

The Teradyne investor release says Magnum E2 targets LPDDR6, DDR6, GDDR7 and NAND flash. Its Near-DUT architecture brings digital instruments close to the device under test. The company describes high parallelism and flexible NRZ, PAM3 and PAM4 signaling support. Engineering and production configurations share a hardware and software platform. These are company product descriptions; the release does not provide a numerical Magnum E2 throughput benchmark.

Three investor checks

  1. Capability: Which memory interfaces and signal types does the platform support? That is the announcement. It is not evidence that a customer has qualified a new device.
  2. Qualification: Which customers move from engineering evaluation to production deployment? Watch for disclosed qualifications or customer adoption, while recognizing that no such count is given in this release.
  3. Economics: Does deployment become tester orders, recognized TER revenue and sustainable margin? The September 29 release does not disclose Magnum E2 order value, customers, pricing, revenue or margin.

Research conclusion: Testing complexity can create a commercial opportunity, but interface coverage is not itself a booking. Keep the technical proof and the financial proof in separate columns when the company reports results.
