Delta: $1,596M Operating Cash Became $209M Free Cash. Trace the Bridge.

For airline stock research, a large operating-cash figure does not show how much cash remains after investing and the company’s adjustments. Delta’s prior-quarter reconciliation gives researchers a precise worksheet to compare with the next release, rather than treating a rounded headline as spendable cash.

Original SignalSage cash reconciliation diagram in warm gray, violet and chartreuse. A vertical bridge shows Delta June-quarter 2026 GAAP operating cash of $1,596M, investing cash of minus $1,512M, and adjustments of plus $4M pension, plus $70M airport construction and other, and plus $51M strategic investments and related, ending at $209M free cash flow, a non-GAAP measure. Period ended June 30; released July 10. Historical data, not September results or an app test.

Two dates, two different jobs

Delta’s September 18 notice schedules its September-quarter results call for October 9 at 10 a.m. ET. That is a webcast schedule, not September results. The figures below are historical: the three months ended June 30, 2026, released July 10. Recheck the current release before using them as a baseline.

Rebuild the historical total in millions of dollars

GAAP operating cash: +1,596. Investing cash: −1,512. Pension adjustment: +4. Airport construction and other adjustment: +70. Strategic investments and related adjustment: +51. The reconciliation totals 209, matching Delta’s non-GAAP free cash flow. This uses the disclosed cash-flow bridge, not a universal definition of free cash flow.

A useful check, not an investment verdict

Operating cash plus investing cash is 84 before those adjustments; the three adjustments add 125. These are arithmetic checks on the disclosed historical table. They do not mean that all investing cash is capital spending, that debt repayments are part of this bridge, or that the result predicts the September quarter.

What to read in the next report

Compare the same period and definition. Inspect operating cash, investing cash, the individual adjustments and debt payments separately. Ask whether cash conversion changed because the operating business generated more cash, investment spending shifted, or the reconciliation changed. A single quarter cannot establish durable cash generation.
